Using Baking Soda For Acne

By Acne Guru | July 29, 2010

A lot of people are asking about the connections of baking soda to pimples. Well then this article will take care of this debate. Yes, baking soda is an effective pimple treatment. And this is basically from personal experience. One of the most effective home acne solutions, here are some of methods that you can use baking soda.

Face mask

Baking soda acne treatment is actually very effective. A paste is created by adding water to the baking soda. This is placed on the skin for the next fifteen minutes. This helps clean the skin and make it look fresher than before. You can do this four times every week, preferably done before going to sleep. Of course, like other home acne treatments, you must first wash your face with warm water before doing this. Don’t rub towel on your skin. Instead, you should gently dab on your skin until it is completely dry.

Specific spots treatment

Now this baking soda acne treatment is pretty much like the face mask method. However, the paste is not applied to the whole face but only to the problematic pimple. It can be left overnight and removed in the morning. You’ll find that baking soda has the capacity to dry out the skin of the pimple to remove trapped oils. Again, use a clean towel for drying.

Using baking soda for scars

It has also been said that baking soda can minimize the amount of scarring produced by pimples. Although I haven’t done this personally, others swears by this method.

Testing first

If you have sensitive skin, you might first want to skip this method. Try putting baking soda paste on the inside of your wrist first to test. Let it stay there for some time. If you notice any unnatural redness or itchiness on that area, then skip the whole baking soda routine and find another option.

There are still other methods you might want to try if you are allergic to baking soda. You might also want to try out garlic, pumpkin or toothpaste. You can use  either garlic or pumpkin as face masks. They also double as scar removers so it’s a win-win situation. Toothpaste is applied directly on a pimple and left overnight.

Keep in mind that these may take time to work. However, by sticking to just one routine, then you’ll be able to find out if the method really works. Also, don’t forget that you should get plenty of exercise and eat healthy. This will supply your skin with the necessary nutrients to keep it healthy. Wash your face often and remove any trace of dirt or make up.
